"And to this purpose"

"If people like to read their books, it is all very well, but to be at so much trouble in filling great volumes, which, as I used to think, nobody would willingly ever look into, to be labouring only for the torment of little boys and girls, always struck me as a hard fate; and though I know it is all very right and necessary, I have often wondered at the person's courage that could sit down on purpose to do it." (In other words: rambling analyses, opinions, ideas, views, and comments from an English major, Essay/paper-writing enthusiastic, Austen-loving Master Librarian on, well, Jane Austen...and a whole lot of other things, too.)

"Celebrated Passages are Quoted"

Heidi's favorite quotes

"What is it really like to be engaged?" asked Anne curiously. "Well, that all depends on who you're engaged to," answered Diana, with that maddening air of superior wisdom always assumed by those who are engaged over those who are not."— L.M. Montgomery

30-Day Challenge...in One Post

I saw this on someone's Facebook wall. And I was thinking what a neat idea. But I am impatient and don't want to go day by day. Plus, I'm honest with myself--I won't remember to do this every day! So I'm doing this now. And I figured this blog would be a fun place to do so, since a lot of my likes, loves, and gushings come forth here. I have altered a few of the challenges, because I don't see the point of focusing on the negative, or dwell on my faults, failings, or things I wish I could forget. I realize that there are so many more photos that I could use and which certainly apply. But these were the things that came to mind for me at this time and place and point in my life. (And I cheated and some times put more than one photo.)

Day 01 - A picture of yourself with fifteen facts.
1. I love my hair.
2. I love playing with my hair (if you couldn't tell).
3. I am ever striving for period drama-like hair-dos. I often fail, but still enjoy the challenge and some of the outcomes.
4. I have forgotten to floss for the last 4 weeks, and my teeth cower in fear of of the pain I have to go through all over again when I start up again.
5. I can't stand seeing my face up close, and really worry about my husband having to see it so as well.
6. Some words I love include: muffin, cupcake, turtle, noodle, and idiosyncratic
7. Some words I do not like: well, obviously I don't like them--so I don't want to put them on my blog!!
8. I have been faithfully performing my hair ritual for 5 years.
9. I cried hard enough last night that it drove sleep away and I was wide awake for three hours.
10. I listened to "Mahna Mahna" this morning.
11. I'm so-so at crossword puzzles
12. I often put my ring on my left-hand when I buy kid's meals...for myself
13. I used to do the previous item when I had to buy embarrassing girl stuff--especially if the cashier was male. ?!?!?
14. I keep my apartment heat at 60 in the winter.
15. I keep my apartment A/C at 80 (or more) in the summer.

Thank you. I had so many places where I wanted to put your picture, but I don't own any of you. The one I had I had I put in a music video and my digital scrapbook--and I delete all photos once I get them in the scrapbooks.

Awww, shucks! I never tire of your company either, and it's such a relief that you never tire of mine--even when I'm at your apartment until waaaay too late in the morning. ;)

Also, I LOVE Lark Rise to Crandleford (Candleford?) We have been getting the DVDs from the library, and every time we watch an episode, I think, "I'll bet Heidi would love this show!"

And where is that in the picture of somewhere you'd love to travel, and when can we go there together?

I might have to borrow this idea from you. It was such a fun post to read!

Jess 1 -I miss you, too! Maybe I can see you when you come to Utah around Conference. It is (unfortunately) my Saturday to work, and my parents are coming to town!!!!, but I'd still love to try and see you.

Jess 2 - I watched every single episode on YouTube. The 1st 3 seasons were watched within one week--and they were much needed last winter/spring when I discovered the show. I DO love it so much! I was on tenterhooks waiting for Season 4, and I'm so sad it was short and now over. But I do watch the episodes multiple times. I have my favorites. I still miss Fisher. :-)

I loved our late nights/mornings! The place is the Lake District! It's just a portion of showing how I want to visit all of England (and Scotland and Ireland if I can). I still hope to do so for my 30th birthday, but I'd like to get as much out of debt before that and set the money aside. If I go at my birthday, then I can attend Austen Festival in Bath! You are most welcome to come. I can just see us singing, dancing, and spouting off books and Period Dramas all over England!

The picture of someone you could never forget is also a picture that you couldn't forget--she looks so cute in the wrapping paper :). Thanks for sharing....

Suburbia Mom: I agree. We had fun "wrapping" her. I wonder if I should do that at her upcoming wedding. And I hope you know you filled so many of these categories, but the one I picked for you brings me the happiest memories right now.

I popped by from the MMB blog list. I learned so much about you from this one blog post. :) I see you know Serene. I follow her hilarious blog. I love the photo of the Book of Mormon!

Valerie - Thanks for stopping by! And thank you about the Book of Mormon photo. It was a lovely morning, I couldn't miss capturing it. I do know Serene. At least, I know her some in college and afterwards, but got to know her well as a regular stalker--I mean, follower of her blog!
